How They Make Us Fight
by Gary Wenkle Smith / July 5th, 2020
“It’s really quite simple,”
they say.
“Because they are so simple,”
they say.
“Tell some this,
and
tell others that.
Tell them to hate.
Love is for the weak.
Send them off to fight
for our freedom
to do that which we choose.
Convince them of their enemies,
then make them kill them.
Give them the crumbs,
while we steal the cake.”
These things they say about us.
These things make them rich
and
powerful
and
fills their emptiness–
for a little while.
“Let them fight over toilet paper,”
said the joker to the chief.
How they make us fight!
