To The Editor

Sir,
the grass grows
so does nationalism
amidst talk of rationalism
some are rabid
some are vapid
I love my country
who will understand me?
I am not rewriting history
to me it is a mystery
I understand God
but not God men or women.
Sir,
To me all this is bad omen.
Sir, now I am told that all I read
was wrong, shall I burn my books
give them to the rooks
my degree
my filigree
and all that is left of me?
Truly yours,
in despondency.
