November Thoughts About Workers Who Died While Earning A Living: Workers’ Memorial Day 28 April 2022

Samhain passes
November’s gray skies and gales
Invite warm memories
And
At times
Cold memories

We who remain
Are the only ones
Who can remember

We are connected by
Minutes
Hours
Days
Years
Decades
Centuries

A soft solemn silence
Offers respect for the dead
The workers who gave their all
To feed and shelter their loved ones
While fulfilling dreams and
Filling coffers
For those who can afford dreams and
Have room for more than they can possibly need

Bells ring in the distance
A deep breath
Exhale
You thoughtfully turn
And are offered the opportunity
To purchase a tee shirt
A sketch
Or perhaps a memorial beer
To mark the occasion
