Missile Silo, Missile Silo

Missile silo, missile solo:
a one-shot defense
mechanism heavy
with its own obsolescence.
Lone missile in a single silo:
You could have been
a sling-shot hero,
only now you’re just yesterday’s
surplus subsidy,
buried deep and almost forgot
in Goliath’s stone-cold
Self-storage locker.
“Intercontinental potential!”–
but for all that you’ve never gone
anywhere, thankfully,
after your parts
were assembled and delivered
to be entombed,
Missile silo, missile solo.
