Our Lot
by John Grey / November 3rd, 2024
I drove by
the prison
where a man was out
wandering the yard
near the fence
that faced the road
and, for a moment,
our eyes met.
I thought to myself,
in different circumstances.
he could be me.
He thought to himself,
there’s no such thing
as different circumstances.
