(Grain Rain)

In thoughts green clinging (Photo: Faye Sarras)

When young between the leaves
between the nearly ripened cobs
caught in the showers of grain
To chase my friends so sweet
In whose rows and ranks did walk
Only to find where sweetness rose
in thoughts green clinging
to our hearts not to the stalks.
