For the Broken

I do this for a living.
I collect a paycheck
for what I do. I read
the stories of the
broken. Try to pick
up the pieces the
best I can. It is a
collaborative effort
with others who do
their part, each one’s
job is just as crucial
as the next. There are
eyes and ears on us
and there are hearts
and souls, who pray
we care for the down
and out, the broken,
those who do not know
they need help and
those who cannot help
themselves. Life throws
everyone trouble. This
living can be weary.
Someone has to do it.
