Once Again, the Moon is Down
(For Ellen who suggested I read Steinbeck’s short story)
by Paul Cech / March 20th, 2022
Once again
The moon is down
Soldiers advance
In silent cadence
Sovereignty evaporates
When tyrants dream
Women and children flee
Amid silent prayers
Hope is diminished
When tyrants dream
When night comes
When the moon is down
Women men and children
Existing between life and death
Focus on resistance
When tyrants dream
