Winners to Losers

Every time a southern
senator spews forth
plantation-owner bile,

I consider what Lincoln
was thinking about
after his victorious

war of liberation.
How were such
miseries allowed

to befoul the government
of the United States
of America? Why

no Great Wall to pen
in their vile predation
and villainy?

Though justice
prevailed in those
dark days,

you’d never know
it now in these, our
own dark days.

Abe, what the hell
happened?
