Direct Line

A warm sun on an afternoon walk…
A few deep breaths could save my soul…
Reestablishing a direct line of communication
with the power that matters most of all…
I have missed you so much, Lord, and have grown so weak…
A silly man that forgets his center too often…
A wounded man that forgets how to love…
A shallow man that forgets how deep the truth runs…
One more breath could bring me back to the core
where the kingdom of your pure light always shines…
No matter how far astray I travel…
No matter how far away I fall…
No matter how many mistakes I make…
I need so much, Lord, the forgiveness that a fresh start promises…
Smiling for the first time in awhile for no reason…
Remembering what it is to trust in something larger…
Humility brings me to the comfort of a vulnerable position…
These tears are a flood that cleanses my remorse…
These words of praise are alms I offer to let you wash over…
A miracle in every moment if I can just see clearly…
Remove this beam from my eye that I may cease with judgment…
A cool wind blowing through the woods…
A little prayer can go such a very long way…
An animal and an angel in this flesh and soul…
I am just a man trying to get it right…
