Heart of Our Harshness

As I sit here in darkness
While my world descends
Into full prejudicial unrest.
This loathsome road again
We must all travel together.

To divide and conquer is our
Enemies battle plan of attack.
To distract us enough to ingest
The poison of white vs. black,
And every shade in between.

We are all one species with
Different cultures and accents.
For we’re all of the same flesh.
Ignorance breathes discontent
Into the heart of our harshness.

Unafraid of us individually they
Are so they keep us at odds.
Fear of the masses in protest
Will strike down their gods
As they sit there in darkness.
