The Bad Machine

I am a bad machine
I came from the same factory as you
But somehow I got broken
I don’t want to do as I am told
I don’t want to be a cog on the wheel
I have no wish to comply.
The programming failed, and now
I dream a different dream,
Not of glamorous people, places and things
I can never hope to attain,
But a small dream of contentment
Far from the glass and concrete and polished steel.
Surely I won’t be missed?
