How far to feel alone
Away from cluttered paths
How far away from home
On feet forgetting pasts
Protruding trunks and boughs
line beside that road
Humming childhood song
Tunes neither right nor wrong

Wei Santang is a scholar born and educated in the Far West in the second half of the 20th century.
