Electoral Rap

(when the social contract’s breached)

Please give me an electorate who boasts
a constitution like the paper one
that my America so proudly toasts
before the world. For, when beneath the gun,
it’s hard to be so circumscribed by law
when those who took the oath affirming it
would, rather than supporting it, guffaw
to see me miserably bite the bit.
For after all, their superior stance
is not a function of their greater means,
but that corrupt peers didn’t help finance
their path to destruction with cutthroat liens
like they liberally saddle dupes with,
converting civil liberties to myth.
