Northern Vermont
by Wayne F. Burke / March 31st, 2024
no crows in these skies;
pale moon on the shoulder of
a mountain,
chimney stacks smokin’–
nothing floating in these rivers;
trees wearing snow like
scarfs
lines drawn on the snowy
hillsides
the last gold touch of sun
in white birch, pine–
racoons high up
tasting the breeze.
