Night of the Antichrist

And the ghoulish eye set down upon the
Unguarded Gazan lamb, an eruption of
Violence that unmoored upon the brain,
The extirpation of innocents drowned in

An orgy of undrawn hate, dreams dissolving,
Cut down by a rogue dominion. The felling
Of the fairies beneath the unraveling shadow,
A tightening gyre of winged fiends that blott-

Ed out the ancient suns, all were pursued by
Those who marched to the Devil’s drum, crus-
Aders who yearned for lifeless bones upon the
Plains; inexorable was the thunder, the meek

They knew not why, so distant was the ocean,
Unheeded were their cries. And neither nurse,
Nor maiden, nor delicate newborn babe were
Forsworn unto the murderer’s untold hate, or

Were absolved by those who clove the citadel
In twain – all were slain that faced the brutal
Scythe of the raging guns. And so they fled
Through smothering smoke and corpses burn-

Ing, infernal hellhounds churning, their fury
Insatiable. Wherefore came these cannibals,
These ruthless madmen raving, their cruelty
Cascading like frenzied waters on the main?
