Church of Violence

A vampiric groaning: the Baghdadi boy’s
Screams still rending the night through
Bloodstained walls; a child’s body is pulled
From the inexorable rubble, the IDF pilot

Relaying that the target has been destroyed,
The gelid form crumbling to ash in her father’s
Arms. A sickening light: an Afghan wedding
Turned into a scene of unutterable horror,

The second sacrifice unfurled for the survivors
At the wake; Ukrainians dragooned and sent
Once more into the abattoir, doomsday weapons
Lusting for bones of man, the monolith calling,

A cruel dominion; the roving of unborn cann-
Ibals, the maiden’s last cry, a lone wolf howling
Beyond the raging of the interrealm, the citadel
Drowning, undrawn was the last sky. And the

Tabernacle spread its wings across the Lucif-
Erian shadow, with a taser for the canticle, a
Hood for the milk-white nave, sunless bars for
The ciborium – waning were the catacombs, the

Silence of crimson rains. Primeval minds evan-
Escing betwixt the maws of anarchy, whereon
The dragon roared in thunder, and the demons
Knelt in homage before the Church of Violence
