Missing the Point

Some say
immigrants kidnapped and their children under guns
is because Trump is senile, incompetent and dumb.

Some say
murdering fishermen, preparing war and intervention
is because he hasn’t read the Constitution.

Some say
threatening his political opponents with death
is because Trump is a narcissist just out for himself.

Some say
his assaults on women, gays and trans
are because he is an out-of-touch, retro man.

Some say
these crimes are just a distraction
from some going-nowhere investigation.

Some say
with atrocities every day
we can wait for elections eleven months away.

Some say
don’t call the regime fascist, don’t reference Nazi Germany,
it can’t happen here because the U.S. is a democracy.

There are those who see
fascism is a five-alarm emergency,
we must demand Trump “Out Now,” millions in the streets.

If calling out a tsunami as a tsunami
puts so many out of joint,
they are missing the danger to humanity─
the fascism is the point!
