My Pledge of Allegiance

Please rise and place your right hand over your heart
To pledge allegiance
To the flag of the United States of America
And to the republic for which it stands
One nation under God
Indivisible
With liberty and justice for all

I remain seated

I won’t pledge allegiance
To a symbol for an America
With injustice for many

I remain seated

I won’t pledge allegiance
To a symbol for an America
With unequal liberties

I remain seated

I won’t pledge allegiance
To a symbol for an America
Called one nation under God

I remain seated

I won’t pledge allegiance
To a symbol for an America
Where abuse is whitewashed

I would rise
And pledge allegiance
To a symbol for an America
If God did exist
And if she would have birthed
One glorious undivided nation
With liberty and justice for all.
