A Turn of the Screw if We Do

We all wind up cocked if we do,
We get cocked hard if we don’t.
This may sound pretty darn good
If a great big cock is all one thinks they want.

We start out in school
To read their books,
Where they teach us their golden rule
And give us all dirty looks.
They gaze at us all through steely eyes
Telling is we perform well
We shall earn a fabulous prize.

We grow up rough
To make us fit,
Then when we finish school
We go out to find an accessible job,
Only see that the reality
Is that nothing sustaining exists for one to get.

We start our own business
With dreams of striking it big,
Only to find out the more we invest,
We wind up sick,
Because the more we make,
The more these authoritarian pigs take.

We are told we can own property,
But all we wind up with is eternal debt.
We have no security,
Since an endless wave of bills is all that we wind up with
When we place our down payment bet.

Should we do nothing,
Then we drift all around,
Living here and there like a gypsy May queen
Anywhere a good parking place might be found.
