There Are No Walls

There are no walls
Where soft winds blow
Where pewter stars
Dust vaulting skies

There are no walls
In hearth-warmed homes
Where mothers tend
To babies’ cries

If walls must stand
Let them contain
The hate and evil
Which some men hold
Enabling we
Who stand without
To vouchsafe freedom
Within our souls

There are no walls
Where Truth and Beauty
Their Peace and Comfort
To us impart

Thus be our call
Our self-sworn duty
That ‘tween our hearts
There are no walls
