Withholding Tax for 2024

It’s tempting to not pay taxes this year,
an anti-U.S. President in store,
his cold disdain for all that most hold dear,
and revenge tours, plus promises of gore.
It seems a bad investment. I should spend
on laws that have been voted for, at least,
not machinations of some madman’s whim,
but ones which try to move us towards our best,
not worst. And if it turns out not as cheap,
at least the money won’t be spent in court
to keep the lunatic up on his feet
and not in jail, but since he’s not the sort
to go down without bold counter attack,
he’ll act as our tax dollars have his back.
