The Drowning Monk
by Kushal Poddar / November 10th, 2024
The monk drowns in his
burnt sienna kāsāya.
His brown hands holding
a bamboo leaf hat can be seen.
Somewhere a bird preaches about
the imperfections of silence.
Thirteen minutes climbing
will bring us the summit.
We find a spot where we
can shed our significance.
Below, the brunt sienna brook
gurgles a chant. The pebbles
of words too lose their importance.
