The callow maid undone: a pleading
Lamb cowering beneath the cannibal
In the rain, black hawk thundering,
Its blades resounding over glistening

Haunted sands. The martyr clinging to
A seam beyond the nave, the fathom-
Less chasm, once more to the wistful
Half-light – the eruption of shattered glass –

Coursing ogres on the plain; sons and
Daughters scattered over ancient ravaged
Ground, their eyes half open, felled by
Cruel marauding demons, seraphs weep-

Ing at this rebellion against the light. A
Gray wolf’s howl that kissed the cross
Of liquid fire, the adamantine eye that
Clove the vanquished heart – Cyclopes

Glowering – a dominion without stars.
Ethereal sands swirling that sung of
Runes primordial, ruthless maws sink-
Ing into souls of a wayward sigh – the

Evanescing of azure dreams – the blood-
Red dawning. Weeping were sad pearls,
Tears cascading on the main, undrawn was
The maiden cry: and her name was Palestine
