Not in prayer (Photo: Faye Sarras)
Not in prayer, wings folded
Scratching earth, merely molded
Little leaps, describe the gait
descended birds for food they wait.
Not in sleep, do they appear
Nor from the deep do they emerge
Dreams of flight softly feathered
Soon alight like love untethered.
