Of Hawks and Doves

War—what does it
Prove? It proves that
We humans are both
Ruthless and crude

And that we’ve not yet
Evolved onto a higher
Sensibility. Still we burn
With animalistic anger
And the fire of our own

Fervor, self-destructive
Inability, to reason out
Our differences without
Blood soaking in the soil.

The spoils of War are not
Worth the turmoil nor toil.
War is the last resort and
Should be avoided at all
Cost. Life is too short to

Hasten it along; our loved
Ones left grieving their
Loss when we’re gone.
It’s shameful that we die

For the gory glory of War.
