Doubled in 2022.
Think of what a breathtaking achievement
That is –
Twice as many children
With insufficient nutrition
Inadequate housing
Scant medical care
Little or no access to clean water
As the year before.
Zowie!
And there is no reason to believe
Given the determination of our government
To impoverish more and more
Of our fellow Americans
In order to enrich a few
Smuggers at the very top
Of the epicurean food chain
That the doubling won’t continue.
Match that, Mao!
