Revelations

Last night
I had a dream
That I saw Jesus
In a three piece suit
With a buttonhole carnation
And John the Baptist
As a waiter
At Lutèce
And all the limos parked
In front
Were angels
And all the bums
Were saints
And then a million cats
Descended
With apocalyptic eyes
And a phalanx
Of mad and angry taxi drivers
Began to arrive
And then I ran out
To greet someone
Powerful
Standing in the rain
It was the Archangel Michael
Who said:
Son this is no dream
But a Revelation come
From the sewers
From the misbegotten
And the soon to be dead.
Spread the Word
That the Messiah
Is returning
Not with love
This time
But with hot engines
Of retribution
And
Acid words that kill.
