Blood in the Sand

We are all animals
Originating
In the same dirt
With the same humours
And the same hurts
We are the original settlers
Of everywhere
With no homeland
To defend
And no duty
Beyond the wind
We are native to the earth
And nothing more
Descended
From the first inhabitants
Wandering
Beyond birthrights
And the imaginary lines
Of greed
That bind us together
In spilled blood
