Standing Up To Live

Heeding thoreau’s advice
Imitating francis
I stood up to live a poetic life

Chances of fame and fortune slim

I sought wealth in the non-material
Mining insight through observation
Sitting down to write a few lines
Standing up again to live

Standing
Observing
In a topsy-turvy world
I found inspiration and hope in a smile
