What I Learned from the Afghanistan War

Afghans say whatever
comes to mind,
Americans say whatever
Pops up on the teleprompter.
ISIS is recruiting a
million shepherd terrorists,
blue-haired ladies in New
England hiss “barbarians,”
most foreigners are spies,
most neutrals are pigs.
America bought the war
but had no place to return it.
We’ve forgotten why we
bought it and we’ll forget
the dead when the value
of our portfolios rises
high enough.
