Into the Forever

Vern Loomis Photo

September sunlight
beech tree aglow
shimmering secrets
yellow and gold.

Two children playing
swing from a bough
into the forever
they swing to-and-fro

The laughter
the jibber-jabber
oblivious joy
into the forever
a girl and a boy

(This will never end)

In some far-away time
the sun will introvert
and the earth will be no more
old stars will slip away
new stars will be reborn

(This will never end)

Over and over and over
and a trillion stars from now
in the mind of a God
in the dreams of a God unknown
are shimmering secrets
in yellow and gold

Two children playing
swing from a bough
into the forever
they swing to-and-fro

The laughter
the jibber-jabber
oblivious joy
into the forever
a girl and a boy
