Common Steps
by Paul Cech / June 7th, 2020
Within the common steps of our everyday journey
We forget to notice beauty

And compel us to seek beauty in the places beyond reality
Our ideals become a pseudo-sanctuary from the troubles
Of our lives
We must open our eyes to see the truth and the beauty
That surrounds us
Paul Cech has been writing poetry since 1970. Several of his poems have been published as Saturday Poems in the Pittsburgh- Post Gazette and the Thomas Merton Center of Pittsburgh has published several of his poems in NewPeople.
