Five stars

(For Sandra)

Serra da Estrela

where the milk
and honey work
rain and sun
are blessed gifts,
barren lies only
in the poverty of eyes
spoiled by rich air.
Where goats
with grace
golden pines match
in their arduous climb,
there Lusitania’s sweetness drips
from her stars through time.
