Two Words

America the beautiful, the land
That had once been freed.
Our chickens have come home to
Roost with many mouths to feed.

The dangerous writing on the wall has
Been there for many long years to heed.
Our misguided trust in leaders, whose
Intent was to mislead.

They sold us down the river with
Their vile, disgusting deed, all our
Work outsourced to foreign lands,
While our people are in need.

So where’s our hero that comes riding
In to save us on his noble steed?
The hero’s dead the headlines read
For those who still can read.

What put us in this position, reaping
The fruit of this evil seed?
I can sum it up in two words, no less
And the words are CORPORATE GREED.
