Swift and Painless
by Scott Thomas Outlar / April 28th, 2019
Poison in the food
Addicted to the sugar
Fire in the hearts and minds of Man
and I cannot feign ignorance
as if I don’t understand why
Toxins in the water
Infatuated with the oil
Triggers in the eyes and teeth of owls
and I wouldn’t know where to begin
telling you how to lay down these burdens
Pollution in the air
Smitten by a fever
Cancer in the way we’re acting
and I’ll never promise to play pretend
when all the war hawks beg forgiveness
