Blinking Before Expansion

There is enough
of this night sky
to pass around
on a silver platter
so all of us
can feast at once
and taste the truth
as chaos blooms
in revelry

I want to rip
the moon
out of its spin
and dance on earth
with its blood eclipse

I want to kiss
each star
with a silent scream
and swallow fire
from the light they sing

There are enough
beams in this world
to cast from our eyes
with a golden rod
so all the flames
can torch at once
those fears we thought
would lead us
into glory

I want to tear
God’s heart
from off its throne
and plant it here
so we’re never alone

I want to take
good aim
as it all goes dark
to heal the shadows
that have left their mark
