Punish Obama

Ignore the Scare Tactics. There is no Tea Party

There are many things that I have publicly said that I support the Obama administration on. I support Obama’s decision to send troops to Afghanistan. I support Obama’s decision for drones. I support Obama’s decision to treat the American who is recruiting terrorists on American soil, who is hiding in Yemen, I support the decision for our intelligence agencies to do whatever it takes to take him out.

— Christine O’Donnell, GOP Senatorial Candidate from Delaware

Why does no one on the Left say it outright ? Obama and his Democratic Party gang should be punished mercilessly in the November elections. If they escape such punishment, then they will continue to break every real and implied promise to their base; and the goals of an end to wars and a decent, secure life will continue to be trampled under foot.

Let us remember that Obama was not, and is not, simply the candidate of the Democrats. He was and is the candidate of the most “liberal” or “progressive” wing of the Democrat Party, the candidate of “Progressive” Democrats of America, of Norman Solomon, of Medea Benjamin, of Michael Moore and on and on. If this wing of the Democrat Party betrays the hopes of its supporters, then surely there is nothing decent remaining in the Party. And so it has become apparent in the last two years.

The people understand this fact far better than the pundits of the liberal “Left,” at the Huffington Post, The Nation, etc; and the people have already registered their discontent. A striking fact bears this out. Since 1970, the turnout in Democratic primaries has been dropping inexorably as the Democrats piled betrayal upon betrayal. And this year, according to data compiled by American University, the “average percentage of eligible citizens who voted in Democratic primaries was the lowest ever. The average percentage of citizens who voted in the GOP statewide primaries was the highest since 1970. … Democratic turnout was 8.3 percent of the eligible electorate, lower than the 8.7 percent of the electorate who voted during this period in 2006 and continuing [an] almost linear descent in Democratic primary turnout since 20.7 percent voted in the party’s primaries in 1966.” Why? It is a simple reflection of reality. In his 2008 campaign Ralph Nader patiently and exhaustively documented how the Democrats have become more and more like the Republicans with each passing year, and so it is not strange that the response of the electorate to both parties has ranged from disinterest to disdain.

So what remains for the Dems? How can they scrounge up some badly needed votes this November? Scare tactics is about all they have left – which I might add is also the only thing the Republicans offer. If your email inbox is like mine, it is brimming with pleas from the Dems to fill their campaign coffers so that they can save us from the Tea Party, from China and a handful of shadowy billionaires. The Tea Party is especially useful in this regard. It is great for the Republicans because it gives the appearance that the GOP has some connection to real people at the grass roots.

But for the Dems the Tea Party is even more bountiful since it is pictured as a mass movement, racist to the core and about to plunge the country into a fascist abyss. However, as Anthony Dimaggio and Paul Street report in an article entitled “The Tea Party Does Not Exist” in Black Agenda Report, “The white nationalist Boogie Man that has the NAACP and the Democrats on the run isn’t a bonafide social movement, at all, but a top-down creation of media and millionaires. The Tea Party is generally drawing much smaller crowds than the leftish U.S. Social Forum, but garners far more coverage from a corporate media that portrays the phenomenon as ‘rising up from the grassroots against establishment politics.’ All indications are that the Tea Party is poorly organized and funded at the local level.” Yes, there is anger aplenty out there as there should be, but it has not yet found a mass organizational basis, certainly not in the Tea Party. And neither the liberal “Left” nor the Right, neither Dems nor Republicans, with their basic loyalty to the elite of Finance and the project of Empire, are in a position to tap that anger which is after all directed at their masters.

The other bogeymen conjured up by the Obamanites are the Koch brothers, libertarian conservatives who draw the poorly penned ire of Frank Rich and Jane Mayer whose accounts are masterpieces of lies by omission. As Justin Raimondo has pointed out in a very informative essay, “What Rich, Mayer, and the other chroniclers of the “Invisible Hands” behind the libertarian-conservative movement elide from their pocket history is the one factor that sets the Kochs apart from post-cold war conservatives (and liberals), and that is their untrammeled anti-militarism. The Cato Institute, which was started with Koch money, stood almost alone in Washington against the first Iraq war [.pdf], and staunchly opposed the more recent invasion – just as they oppose Obama’s wars in Afghanistan and beyond. Cato has also stood up for our civil liberties, opposing the PATRIOT Act, and the whole panoply of post-9/11 repressive measures initiated by the Bush administration and expanded by Obama. Right after 9/11, the Koch brothers gave the ACLU $20 million to fight off the Bushies’ assault on the Constitution (George Soros gave half as much). …. The Kochs stand at the end of a long albeit virtually unknown tradition. The American Liberty League, which Rich and his ideological allies disdain, was financed by many of the same businessmen who later founded the biggest organized peace movement in our history, the America First Committee. A thoroughgoing anti-interventionism motivated these men….” Now isn’t that interesting? And might those who despise war and Empire not find a lot more in common with the Kochtopus than the Obamanite Dems?

Obama is racing about the land in unseemly panic, railing against “the failed policies of the Bush administration” – presumably the policies of waging war, bailing out the banksters while neglecting job creation and mortgage foreclosures, handing over the health care system to the murderous moguls of the health insurance industry, spying on antiwar activists, continuing the extraordinary renditions to torture chambers all over the globe, increasing military spending and on and on. There is no danger of returning to those policies since Obama never abandoned them. They are now the failed policies of the Obama administration.

Just listen to Christine O’Donnell, the Wicked Witch of Delaware: “There are many things that I have publicly said that I support the Obama administration on. I support Obama’s decision to send troops to Afghanistan. I support Obama’s decision for drones. I support Obama’s decision to treat the American who is recruiting terrorists on American soil, who is hiding in Yemen, I support the decision for our intelligence agencies to do whatever it takes to take him out.” And she is no exception, as Glenn Greenwald points out: “In addition to Christine O’Donnell’s effusive praise for Obama’s Terrorism and war actions in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Yemen, Bush CIA and NSA Director Michael Hayden has repeatedly praised Obama’s “powerful continuity” with Bush/Cheney in these areas; torture choreographer Condoleezza Rice came out of a meeting with the President on Friday and praised his foreign policy and hailed him as “a defender of America’s interests”; and one of the most ardent defenders of Obama’s assassination program is the incomparably unhinged anti-Muslim fanatic Andrew McCarthy of National Review.”

So what is to be done? You are probably flooded with desperate pleas from Dems for money and support. If there is not a dime’s worth of difference between the two parties, then I submit neither deserves a dime nor even a nickel. Since there is no lesser evil, there is no lesser evil for which to vote. And if you feel betrayed by Obama and his minions, then let November 2 be the day of reckoning.

The writer sees betrayal by obama– i see the sameness, the same thinking; now ca. 10 k yrs old.
next time we may have such ‘liberals’ and democrats like clooney, brad pitt, angelina jolie, zeta jones as prez and the same thinking and behaving once again.
And egzactly the same and egzactly as US consitution demands.
But please don’t blame angelinas. she wld be just one of the thieves in the den– one of a 2-10 mn, but armed with warships, wmd, jets, tanks, and money!
Did u guyz think that money is not used as a weapon!
But then what tool hadn’t been.
however, a person using a shovel to beat smbody into whatever state of mind or mood is not the same as a gang of people; numbering mns, using money to beat 90% of americans into just a perfect mood: called utter obedience and devotion.

No, folks, u don’t come across such silliness, as this post ‘IS’, in NTM.
Don’t believe in much what we say! Put ur trust in uncles: pedro, tom, sarah, joshua, ivan, bogdan, beck, george !

hey, kids, don’y u dare give up ur hopes! Sooner than later [in which sooner means a millennium] u’d come across such words in two msm sisters: apodictic [invenetd by aristotle, people tell me] truth, timocracy, pantisocracy, sharing, caring.

about the two sisters of one persuasion: the older sister is a bit more honest and wiser, the younger and dumber, hedges more, but she, too, is learning.

Btw! this is for new readers! my posts annoy mightily ?all ‘jews’, muslims, christians, facists. And some others as well. But can’t tell if they are from moon or dubya’s ranch! Any input on this? thanks for ur ear.
hey, what happened to black ears on these sites?. I wonder if i have even met one yet?? or are they still running away from white ears?
Oh, oh! i know, i know, eureka, they are all in jails!

Don’t think Walsh see “betrayal by Obama”. Anyone who has followed Walsh would know where he comes from. His is a consistent citing of what the liberals tied to the Dem. Party have failed to see during the rush to elect Obama. Walsh along with others have chronicled just how foolish their belief in “hope” with Obama has ALWAYS been.

Those who have pondered deeply their thoughts about their liberal roots have begun to shift and re-formulate; acknowledging the failure of the liberal movement in US history. That at best liberalism has been a resistance movement. It has pushed back, but it has not provided deep progressive alternatives to a pathological set of systems.

What has and needs to emerge (and is) is a deep transformation of human living patterns, a realization that the American experiment as it is manifested has failed regarding the well-being of those who live here and those around the world affected by its aggressive militaristic interventionism. There is a positive way forward. It is neither the old school left or right (which is really has been hi-jacked by an extreme neo-fascism). The representatives of the so-called Tea-Party, i.e., those running as if supported by a “party” while raised on a superficial notion of America and an pathological supremist notion of morality. There is no “party” not even a “movement” but a faux entity from which both “parties” can use as foils to cover the fact that as Mr. Walsh states, there’s not a dimes worth of difference between these two parties.

Granted this is old, but should be stated given the boom in the 2008 election. It needs to be shouted just how that election should be the beginning of the end so we can get about the business of building what is needed, on the ground, and NOW.

Really the problem with the ‘left’ is that they are still covertly tied to the Democrats..even though it’s no longer proper to admit that. In practice most of the antiwar ‘movement’ for example are tied to the Democrats. Look at ANSWER, with Ramsey Clark, just for example.

    What a BAD example!

I have to agree with much of Max’s observations. This is a very insightful piece and it indicts much of the pseudo-Left and how it has been using the Tea Party to further its own end. Amy Goodman for example has been playing up the wealth of the Koch Brothers while never mentioning the ties of such Zionist like Haim Saben to the Democrats. Or for example Chomsky who framed the Tea Party and a renewed rise of Hitler’s Brown Shirts.

Walsh says what needs to be said. The Libertarian have been staunchly anti-war and have been calling for reduction of the Defense budget for years thus there is a game being played here that goes well beyond Republican/Democrats so-called “Left/Right” dichotomy.

That is what needs to be examined and understood.

The Tea Party is only libertarian when it comes to domestic policy, not foreign policy. Palin and company are the biggest supporters of empire. I’m sure there are true Ron Paul libertarians still in the movement but they are vastly outnumbered.

“In practice most of the antiwar ‘movement’ for example are tied to the Democrats.”

I don’t live in the US but I wonder if this is still the case after Bush left office?

Take a moment and visit the new IAPC site http://iapc.webs.com/

People have forgotten, or never really knew, that the Progressive Party (1912) emanated from a split in the Republican Party. Now we have a mish mosh of so-called “Progressives” aligned with the Dems. Historically, both the Dems and GOP have worked to promote the wants of business and historically both have played themselves to the people as being for the people. Can anyone remember the last time either party sincerely did something solely for the people?

The latest rage in the Dems is to blame the “Progressives” for the impending failure in November. Ever the sociopaths, they will take no blame for THE PEOPLE turning away from their corrupt wheelings and dealings.

Ever wonder why they call themselves “Parties”? (Has something to do with where you go when you want to get F**ked up. And they’re all pretty good at doing just that.)

IAPC is not a party. We’re pretty serious folks. Join us.

You mean that there is a difference between the Tea Party and the Dems???

The voters always have a choice. As long as they continue to vote dem/repub nothing will change. I know that it is difficult for any candidate who is not dem/repub to get elected. In Vermont most Independents/Third Party candidates are invisible in the print Press. They were not even allowed to participate in the governor’s candidate debate – even though the debate was held in a public building. This happens every election and is legal under Vermont Law. Even with that said – I hold the citizen/voter responsible for his vote. Those who have not checked out ALL candidates should voluntarily stay home on election day. Otherwise they cancel out the vote of an informed voter.

I know about this because I am one of Vermont’s Invisible Candidates – a candidate for VT Attorney General.

Let’s see Juan Williams just got a; heck here’s CNN

Meanwhile, Fox News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes announced Thursday that Williams has been signed to an expanded role with the network in a multiple-year deal.
The Los Angeles Times reported that Williams got a three-year contract worth nearly $2 million that will involve more frequent appearances on the network and a column on FoxNews.com. CNN
Of course this is because he was fired from NPR for saying he gets “nervous” when he sees people in full on Muslim garb on a plane and he said this on the The O’Reilly Factor so that’s how you spell Oreally.

I can see it now a person get’s on an airline after this and see’s someone in full on Muslim garb goes to the front of the plane and tell’s the stewardess those people in full on Muslim garb make me nervous. Probably new company policy will be sir we understand and here’s a pin for being a wimp. Here’s another pin for being mad in a mad world but sir you are now sane on Zenon airlines and you get to fly first class and here’s your seat we call it the Dick Cheney seat and next to you is the Rupert Murdoch seat and in the next row is the George Bush seat junior for short and next to him the Donald Rumsfeld seat and to make you feel even better here’s a card with some quotes from Donald Rumsfeld enjoy the flight you are safe now.

You and a few other critics are the only people I’ve heard use the phrase immediate threat. I didn’t, the president didn’t. And it’s become kind of folklore that that’s what’s happened.

Now what is the message there? The message is that there are known “knowns.” There are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say there are things that we now know we don’t know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we do not know we don’t know. So when we do the best we can and we pull all this information together, and we then say well that’s basically what we see as the situation, that is really only the known knowns and the known unknowns. And each year, we discover a few more of those unknown unknowns.

We know where they [Iraq’s WMD] are. They’re in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad and east, west, south, and north somewhat….I would also add, we saw from the air that there were dozens of trucks that went into that facility after the existence of it became public in the press and they moved things out. They dispersed them and took them away. So there may be nothing left. I don’t know that. But it’s way too soon to know. The exploitation is just starting.

We’re so conditioned as a people to think that a military campaign has to be cruise missiles and television images of airplanes dropping bombs, and that’s just false. This is a totally different war. We need a new vocabulary. We need to get rid of old think and start thinking about this thing the way it really is.

Sir I see you finished reading your card and I’ll bet you feel much better can I get you a drink we are having a special today called half empty try it it’s wonderful.

  13. hayate said on October 22nd, 2010 at 11:34pm #

I don’t think I’d feel safe on a plane with that williams goatsod on it. He’d make an ideal expendable “target” for a mossad falseflag op. I’d be worried the mossad planted a bomb on the plane, like they’ve done so many times in the past.

Ellsberg on Obama’s conscious lie – the Iraq war is not over!

“One other aspect of that is that—my understanding—is that the impression he’s giving that he’s ending the war in Iraq, or that it has ended even, the war described by these 400,000 documents, is, I think, a conscious lie. I think it’s as much of a lie as Lyndon Johnson’s, when I was working for him and he underestimated for the public the scale and the duration of the war we were getting into. I’ll predict, without having seen these documents—I will make a bet here, I’ll stick my neck out—that there’s no hint in those 400,000 documents, which go up into this year, that President Barack Obama intends to remove our bases from Iraq, next year or the year after or any time in his term. I’ll bet there isn’t even a contingency plan for turning over those bases to Iraqis. And that means that rather than doing what he’s promised, which is to get all American troops out by the end of next year, I think there will be tens of thousands there whenever he leaves office, whether it’s in 2013 or four years after that.”

The reason that Obummer is such as piece of crap is because is he was the candidate of posers such as Michael Moore. Please stop holding up Moore as a shining liberal or progressive beacon (note to Amy Goodman: stop wasting a half hour on this lout). Moore ceded his credibility when he backed empty suit Wesley Clark a couple of election cycles ago, dissed Ralph Nader for daring to speak the truth and exercise his right to run for office in this alleged democracy, and cheerled for Obama’s sham health care bill – despite having chronicled the ills of our health system in his movie Sicko. As for the others – Solomon, Benjamin, Progressive Dems, yada , yada – more posers. If these entities were truly progressive, they would have gotten the message years ago and started to support candidates such as McKinney and Nader. Like Moore, they have zero credibility with their failure to confront and demand anything from Obama and the Democratic party.

“Obama Gives Clues About His Next 2 Years”

This was an article on Yahoo.com today. Obummer says he’ll focus on the deficit. Geezus. It’s the economy, asswipe. The private sector ain’t creating new jobs because they can’t sell the crap already in inventory. Thus the govt needs to create jobs – and there is a crapload of actual work, not make work, to be done. Nobody gives a shit about the deficit but politicians who use it as an excuse to cut programs that help people and sipphon money to fund wars and chaos that enriches the military/industrial/security complex, and, give more money to Wall Street to continue its Ponzi Schemes (see: privatization of public education and Social Security).

Want to cut the deficit? End the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. This includes firing the Blackwater mafia of indy contractors. Bring home the troops from all those needless military bases overseas. Charge a 2-3% tax on financial transactions on Wall Street. If a hedge fund pulls in millions or even billions, a 2-3% transaction tax isn’t gonna hurt – especially when these crooks don’t pay little or no income tax. Speaking of income tax, what was all that talk during the campaign of closing tax loopholes so corporations would be forced to pay their fair share as opposed to hiding behind offshore tax havens?

Obummer and the Dems already have their spin meter in overdrive for post November when Republicans become the majority in Congress: 1) Blame Republicans for inability to pass legislation (oh wait, they’ve been using that line for quite some time already); 2) Propose good legislation that would have been passed when Dems had majority, knowing that it will be quashed; 3) Quietly push through even more wretched policies to permanently quash dissent, privatize public services, attack Iran, fuck up Latin America, and point the finger at Republicans as the reason for it.

Obama was vetted and approved by power players in both parties and he is succeeding in cementing their plans beyond their wildest dreams. Dumb bitch Palin was no fluke; she was installed as McCain’s running mate (along with having McCain play the role of dottering old fool) to insure an Obama win. The powers that be knew the general electorate was not going to vote for a senile McCain and a dumber than dirt Palin. If Palin shows up again on the 2012 ticket, rest assured that the Republicans are still happy as clams with Obummer’s evildoings and want to keep rolling on the smooth road to a fascist plutocracy.

Are all of the above comments satire or do none of these people research primary documents? Where do you all get your information? Do you consult primary documents, watch T.V. news–how have you all come to these opinions?

Here is an example: Not too long ago, I watched Sean Hannity and heard that President Obama gave away two billion dollars of taxpayers’ money to Brazil! Hannity went on to say that Brazil needed money because Brazil wanted to drill for more oil to send to the Chineses, and WE, the American people were the losers in this Obama scheme! Since then, I have seen this Fox News report all over the Internet.

OMG, this would send anyone into a spin! Obama is a crook, robbing the American people of their hard-earned money, and, at the same time, giving out money for China’s interests–not American interests? Can you all believe this?
I am an avid watcher of C-Span, a meticulous researcher for primary sources, and, strangely enough, this news was not there. So I set out to research this statement from Hannity….

Here is what I found on a primary document, issued by the Import-Export Bank: George W. Bush made this agreement while he was still President. He made it with Import-Export Bank– to send two billion dollars to Brazil, so that Brazil could drill for oil that would provide for the Chinese! The representatives who signed the documents at the bank were Republican representatives during Bush’s presidency. This was the culmination of a George W. Bush deal! We, at least can say Bush kept his promises, even when no longer president.

I’m afraid that the O’bummer Project was simplicity itself to understand, and is proceeding exactly according to plan.
O’bummer, with his Zionist background and CIA history, was pushed forward as a Tel Avivian Candidate to suck in the patsies. The Bush pathocracy was deeply unpopular, and the financial pips were squeaking as the financialisation frauds began to implode. To continue the Zionazi project required a Trojan Horse, a pretend ‘liberal’ who, once he had conned the suckers, would govern exactly like his predecessor. O’bummer has played the role to perfection. He has continued every Bush policy, from the War of Terror against Islam, the condoning of mass torture, slavish obeisance to the Master Race in Israel (they bragged that he was the ‘first Jewish President of the USA’ after all)and cosseting the parasite rich while screwing the serfs. He is just like Rudd in Australia in every way, only he has charisma, whereas Rudd’s priggish sanctimony and phoniness were soon apparent.
O’bummer was allowed to win. McCain followed the script, acting Alzheimic and appointing a cretin as Vice-Presidential candidate. O’bummer now has two performances left to play. First he must lead the Democrats to disaster in a week, then he must play the ineffectual ‘lame duck’ to perfection over the next two years, ensuring a Republican Presidential victory in 2012. The ‘Hope Fiends’ will, hopefully, be so disheartened at the obvious (at last!) betrayal, that they will be put off political involvement for life,l eaving the field open to the fanatic Mad Hatter cretins and ignoramuses of the Tea Party farragos. O’bummer will get his reward for a magnificent performance by securing a sinecure at Goldbags-Sucks or some other Judaic charitable organisation, unless they decide to dud him,on the basis that black goyim are even more unworthy of being dealt with honourably than white ones. I doubt that he would whinge, he no doubt envisaging a long life, not one cut off, mysteriously, short.
