For Sophia

chapped skin frozen in a land
not her own distant from home
mocked by so many still a lady
for what is true she sought only
a protector of water and others
relatives all she knows we are
standing rock strong up against
genocidal evil hundreds years old
a Lakota life now eternal one see
gave part of herself for you
and for me
