Heaven’s Just A Rumour I Heard About When I Was Young

…and true love was merely
a teenage illusion.
Apart from rare occasions
friendships are competitions,
filled with underhandedness,
one up-ness and ulterior motives.
Opening up and sharing
outside of a therapy room
leaves you open to ridicule
and is potentially giving
ammunition and weapons
to future two-faced enemies.
Most people are only
restraining themselves
from actually murdering you
because of repercussions
not from some moral code
or spiritual righteousness.
You want pity or mercy?
don’t seek it from the lowlife
slandering and bullying you.
Never explain yourself
to finger pointers
they are not looking for the truth,
they are trying to coax you into a trap.
Why is life like this? Because it is!
Be careful who you have around you,
and when you make mistakes
because you are only human,
forgive yourself quickly, learn faster
and leave behind anyone
who does not want you to move on.
