Labour leadership’s up for grabs,
and the media’s not bereft
of Corbyn-bashing talking heads
scared he’s too far left,

hacks and pundits fulminating
that socialists means trouble,
while those who bob to the middle
like spirit level bubbles

are ‘safe bets’ for a party
with less backbone than a worm.
They say Corbyn’s unelectable
but the tide will never turn

till a grassroots revolution swings
the movement back to strong
cohesive opposition and Labour’s
on the left again. Where it belongs.
