Balance

If they put a bullet
on one side of the scale,
you must place an equal weight
on the other,
to bring the fulcrum
back to center.
A bouquet, left.
Or a candle, burning.
A poem. or memory.
A cup of water.
The weight of a hand in a hand.
And if the bullet
is especially heavy,
it may take them all.
