Eye of the Storm

Whirling, twirling, swirling
Wild storms howl
across earth’s fragile face.

False prophets and misleading leaders
screech their violent creeds
to justify their cruel deeds.
They try to terrify us
through a tempest of
disorienting chaos.

Spinning inside the whirlwinds,
my body, mind and soul
try to withstand fragmentation
amidst the frazzled fury
of a frenzied world.

Stepping through the rocks and rubble
my bones feel jangled and sore,
shocked by the jagged edges
of today’s reality show.

My witnessing heart feels
bruised by the brutality
of hard hearted haters
in their temples of power.
I feel raw from the raucous cawing
of their fevered followers
spreading their delusions
and desires
for world domination.

I’m praying for courage,
praying for hope.
Beseeching, reaching, seeking
answers of peace
Will my cries be answered
by the heavens or the earth?
Can I hold to a thread of faith?
I feel it slipping from my grasp.

Mother Earth can you hear me?
Can you hold me in a heartfelt hug?
Can you heal me with your sacred song?
Help me rest and breathe
so I can feel your peace.

Father Sky,
Grace me with a ray of golden light.
Illuminate my mind.
Restore my inner sight.
Rekindle my creative connection
to the cosmos.
Remind me I’m made
of the same substance as the stars.

Sacred Spirit,
Fuel my inner fire
to renew my soul’s sacred desire.
Lend me light from your candle
to reignite my own inner light.

Please speak the words
that spark remembrance
of my inner spark
that keeps me forever
connected to you.

Help me feel my sacred self
weaving into the universal web,
holding me now and forever.
