Emily Beyond the Main
by David Penner / June 1st, 2025
A glistening glass upon the main,
A weeping waif in faded sallows;
The steely eye that rent the brook,
An ebbing stone in pale and shadow.
A fleeting wave that clove the night,
A sickly dram unto the time that wove;
A faith that hovered beyond the rain,
The crimson bleed of fleeting tallow. A
Moonlit star that kissed the wabe, Gazan
Tears the hallowed moon doth know;
Drowned in sorrow, the ancient lea – until
A light comes calling, to bring us home again
