Inner City Street Cleaning

Bars on the doors and windows.
Shop at specific stores
on certain days
at exact hours.
Pay grudging heed
to street thugs
who prowl the pavement.
Elect the same politicians
who are on the take
until an accidental shooting
where no one saw anyone
at the time of the crime
and television news crews
require
solicited police presence
for the required amount of time
until a heavy rain will
wash the street clean.
