Two Seconds

Muffled shadows, camouflaged clothing
Years in the making
Years of indoctrination

Peering through scoped glass
One mile out
Crosshairs resting between the eyes of what we dismiss

Whether we know
Whether we accept
Whether we believe

In the consequences of a planet overheated
Capitalism’s sunset
Democracy’s impending demise

Is of only momentary concern
Projectiles coming at our heads
From a slender mile require nothing

In their two-second eternity
Other than reflection
Followed by movement
