Gate to spring

From hearth and tomb (Photo: Faye Sarras)
Well swept were ancient times
Dust from hearth and tomb
Bristles collected particles
Caught where silence lay
Broken soil, cracked bark
Cold dispelled, nights waned
Young ideas sleep escape
to rising, spreading, warming day.
