Silence on the Cancer Ward

And the silence touched down upon the
Man in shadow, it wept upon the hearth
And espied the lucent moon, it unmoored

The shimmering stars, it bore the eye of an
Ancient chalice; for an oncology soldier had
Sheathed his blade upon the main, white

Nights raging, weeping owls of blue sorrow;
The evanescing of the nave, dreams dissolv-
Ing upon a glade of memory. Will we embrace

Once more beyond the weeping of the rain?
Will the song still beckon? The breach lies
Smoldering – adamantine knight that held

The walls of sacred Troy, the steadfast char-
Ger now at rest in the flaxen valley. For a lark
Is rising while I undrown upon the pyre, en-

Tombed in tallow, as the soul of the martyr
Disappears beyond the haze, and an angel
Ascends to enshroud the earth in hallowed dew
