In distant views (Photo: Faye Sarras)
Grass crisp covers the ground
Stems gasp above the soil
Weighed by winter water
Wait those thirsty roots.
Another season chilled
Passes on mountain wind
Spring’s still sleeping petals found
In distant views where trees abound
