Scavenger Hunt

We were hiking
through the trails,
looking for things
in nature
that start with
different letters
of the alphabet
so our 3-year-old
could name them off.

But after noticing
a lack of wildlife
in the apocalyptic heat,
all that came to mind
was E for extinction.
